Frequently asked questions

What is a quantum-resistant blockchain?

A quantum-resistant, or post-quantum, blockchain uses cryptographic algorithms specifically designed to withstand attacks from quantum computers, not just today's classical hardware. QAN builds this in at the protocol level, from genesis.

Is QAN EVM compatible?

Yes. QAN combines EVM-compatible smart contracts with quantum-safe code, so existing Solidity tooling and wallets work while the underlying cryptography stays post-quantum secure.

Is QAN a Layer 1 or Layer 2?

QAN is a Layer 1 blockchain with its own consensus, validators, and genesis block; it isn't built on top of another chain.

Can quantum-resistant nodes be added to an existing chain?

No. Quantum resistance has to be built in from the genesis block. Retrofitting an existing chain would require a hard fork rather than a simple upgrade.
